Virtual and In-Person Services

The Six Rivers DRC physical office is currently  closed to the general public; services are currently offered virtually or by phone. In some cases, in-person services can occur while maintaining physical distancing and face covering protocols.

Six Rivers Commitment to Justice

We embrace conflict for what it is; intense energy focused on something that needs to change. As mediators, we are neutral on the solution but not neutral on human values. Six Rivers stands with those rising for equity and equality. As a society we have systems in conflict and therefore, in need of change. Entire races of people are excluded from decision-making.

Six Rivers operates on the grassroots side of peacemaking every day, all day. We accomplish this by providing forums for dialogue and deliberation, for personal and interpersonal self-determination. Yet we know that the interpersonal is only one aspect of making change come to reality. We value and support organizations doing more systemic work. We, as a society, must do more.  Six Rivers commits to the following:

Representation: We will expand our Board of Directors to include more members and more voices from the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color community, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.

Education: We will deliver opportunities for dialogue and discovery in the topics of culture and oppression.

Restorative Justice: We will expand options for local schools and organizations to build internal discipline, responsibility, and empowerment with collaborative restorative practices.

Internships: We will redirect funding to create internships for local Black, Indigenous, and People of Color youth to expand their skills in leadership, conflict resolution, and empathy-building.

Community integration: We will prioritize anti-racism projects and integrate with existing programs. We cannot accomplish this alone. We honor our community by sharing our tools and training volunteers. We empower neighbors and friends to become peacemakers.

Current Safety Policies related to COVID-19

We are here for you, helping clients over the phone and online. The unique role of community mediation centers is anchored in a belief that through connection and curiosity, we find opportunity, understanding, and meaningful ways to solve problems. During this period of uncertainty and stress, it is helpful to seek ways to use effective communication skills, be flexible, and open to new ideas. We also find ways to strengthen our relationships and care for one another, even if from a distance. We are not alone. We are a community.

We take the health and safety of our clients, volunteers, and staff seriously. Therefore, our physical office is closed to the general public. However, facilitated communication is absolutely essential in this environment, so we continue to provide conflict analysis, coaching, mediation, and conflict resolution services via phone and/or web conference. Trainings will be provided via web conference when possible. Some in-person services will be offered on a case-by-case basis as safe guidelines permit.
